Kiwibokke?
Well, that was the rather unimaginative title I derived by merging the names of the two animals that vaguely represent our respective countries of origin. Kiwi for that ridiculous yet iconic bird of Diane's native New Zealand, and Bokke for the hapless Springbok that ranks so woefully low on the food chain of my native South Africa. As I said, unimaginative. But I still can't think of anything better.
Diane and I (Mark) met in the lobby of a London hotel in July 1995 at the start of a tour that took us to the far reaches of northern Europe and Russia, and led to a relationship that survived a rather nomadic existence for many years thereafter, not to mention two kids who hopped on for the ride, and all the other slings and arrows of mischievous fortune that tried to get in the way.
Many years have passed since 1995 and I still can't think of a time that Diane and I didn't wish we were somewhere else or doing something different, and we keep holding out for that next adventure that is surely just around the corner. In the meantime this website forms something of a photo chronology of how we got to where we are now, and captures some of the fun and games we've had since those crazy days and sleepless nights in Russia.
